Just Another Sonnet Sunday; Days of Tall Trees

It was the days when the tall trees swayed

It was time of running barefoot and free

Puppies and dogs were the only friends made

Herky and Splasher chasing trains and me

Whittle wood away and silly songs sing

Catching crawdads tadpoles seine for minnows

In the pond hearts content skinny-dipping

Ooze of soft river mud between your toes

Relax in tall grass the odor so sweet

Fluttering white butterflies dance away

A Song Sparrow trilling a steady beat

Heart fills with the sun’s vitalizing rays

The grassy meadows where all bugs played

It was the days when the tall trees swayed
